Mike Aldren Responds to Dawn Marie's Letter

Posted by Rick Starr on July 29, 2010 at 9:48 PM Comments comments (0)

Earlier his week Dawn Marie wrote a public letter regarding the recent news of her scandal with her charity: Wrestler Rescue. Mike Aldren wrote a letter in response to hers.

For the last three years Dawn Marie has promoted Wrestlers Rescue as a charity to raise monies to help and support the health care needs of retired professional wrestlers. During that time Dawn has sent me numerous emails asking my help to spread word of her fund raising activities through my writings relating to this project. I duly obliged in most instances.

One of the primary benefactors was to be journeymen wrestler Dr. Death Steve Williams who sadly succumbed to cancer in December, 2009. Shortly after Doc’s passing I asked Dawn what she planned to do with the thousands of dollars she had raised—whether that would be in terms of covering funeral expenses for the family or a talked about trust fund for Doc’s son.

Dawn told me on-the-record in a January email, “We are talking with the family and trying to figure out the best way to use the dollars that weren’t used.”

I asked Dawn again a few weeks later and received no response.

A few weeks after that I asked Dawn whether Wrestlers Rescue was in fact a registered charity and what other retired wrestlers she planned to help in the future. Dawn replied and told me that her representative would be in touch soon and furnish me with the information I requested.

Dawn’s rep later turned out to be her New Jersey based attorney. I was shocked to learn from said attorney that Wrestlers Rescue, after three years in operation, was NOT a registered not-for-profit nor were they willing to open their finance books to the general public or the people in the wrestling business who have helped them raise thousands of dollars in the name of a dying man.*

And so here we are today. While Dawn's passion may be viewed by some as admirable, she as the founder and chair of her organization, should be more forthcoming regarding the monies she has raised, nor should she falsely represent herself as a charity, just as she did last week when quoted in a New York Times article.

Is she stating that up until now, the supposed charity has been for profit? If so, who has profited from the proceeds of Wrestlers Rescue? If not, then why has the non-registered charity been so secretive regarding the proceeds of the monies raised?

Who has actually benefited from anything done by Wrestlers Rescue up to now? Check delivered, bills paid, someone rescued?

I hope that Dawn Marie will address these reasonable questions in a public forum very soon.

Sincerely,

Mike Aldren

It was reported by many sites (including this one) that when Melina woud return to the WWE, she would jump into the Morison/DiBiase & Maryse storyline. However in a taped show she did a "run-in" after a 6 diva tag, and attacked Alicia Fox,the Diva's Champion. This new chain of events has the web buzzing, and many aready belive the Melina/Morison angle hasbeen nixed before it was even started.

More ECW Names Turns down TNA

As reported last week, Lance Storm rejected TNA's offer to show up at "Hard Core" Hard Justice. However he is not the only former ECW star to not be interested in TNA's offer.  Roadkill turned down TNA's offer, and Mikey Whipreck also tured down the offer and posted this on his Facebook page: "For the record, I have no intentions of doing the TNA PPV. I'm happy for guys that are doing it but it's nice to see the little bingo hall company everyone 'blew off' back in the days as 'insignificant' is called upon every time business is in the toilet."

Eric Bichoff as always likes to get cryptic. This has become ever more true since he has opened up his Twitter page.Bichoff recently posted this on his Twitter page:

Great set of TV's last night and tonight!

 followed that up with:

Not the day I was hoping to have!

You can lead them to drink, but not how to find water! Frustrating,

Could Bischoff be reffering to th new ECW group? Perhaps he is not happy wth the way thngs are turning out already....

2011 HOF Update

Posted by Rick Starr on July 28, 2010 at 7:53 PM Comments comments (0)

There is word that  The Ultimate Warrior will be inducted into the 2011 WWE Hall of Fame. This is far from confirmed at the moment as the WWE had wanted to induct him several times before, but apparently money was always the issue. Other names to be inducted is the Fabulous Freebird and Arn Anderson.
